Alaska!

This post was started in 2015 (oops!)

...This is my story about an amazing trip to Alaska.  It was on the bucket list.  So...

I have a good friend, Grace, in NYC.  Some of you may remember her from Guatemala.  We've visited off and on since and had occasionally traveled together.  On one of these visits, I'd casually mentioned my next big trip was Alaska, and she was hooked. It took 2 years of planning but 2 weeks ago we met in Seattle for the start of the "big Alaska trip".

I had certain expectations about Alaska.  I figured it would be cold.  I'd heard it was rainy...and cold.  I bought a rain jacket, and the last day I was home, scrounged around til I found a new light jacket.  I bought a couple of sweaters and lots of layers, and a new camera with an extra battery and an extra memory card.  I was ready!

Soo...Evidently I started this post then never finished it...and it's now 6 years later. Sigh.  Life happens.  Here are some cool pics of Alaska to make it up to you.  And it was a WONDERFUL trip!!

This was the view from the train ride along the coast.  Seattle to Vancouver during the summer.  So beautiful and peaceful!

The mountains!

The history!

The glaciers!

The best pic of a bear.  He was in an animal park due to injury, but we saw a few roaming around.  They just won't pose for you.

Everyone said we'd probably never see Denali, but we did!

It's now 2021.  We've survived Covid, I'm retired from a job I hadn't even started when I began this post, and I now have 6 grandkids.  Hang in there folks...I'll catch you up in the next post.
